The Dhammapada, also known as the «Dharma Path» or «Dharma Verses», is a collection of verses or aphorisms that form part of the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism, and is a collection of the sayings and teachings of Gautama Buddha.

The Dhammapada offers practical guidance for living an ethical, compassionate and spiritually meaningful life. Its universal message of peace, wisdom and kindness continues to inspire people around the world. The Dhammapada is composed of 423 verses organized into 26 chapters or thematic sections.

Each verse is a maxim or short teaching that addresses various aspects of Buddhist spiritual life, ethics and practice. These teachings include topics such as ethics, meditation, mind, wisdom, compassion and liberation from suffering and offer practical advice for living a virtuous life, overcoming suffering and attaining enlightenment.

This translation offers a gateway to understanding one of the world’s oldest religions and provides valuable insight into the history and spirituality of the Theravada tradition of Buddhism. The «Wisdom of the East» collection includes a selection of texts from the Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian and Muslim religions and philosophies.
