Science and Medieval Thought is a classic study of the development of science in the Middle Ages, first published in 1901. Allbutt provides a detailed overview of the different fields of science that were studied during this period, including astronomy, mathematics, physics, and medicine. He also discusses the impact of Christian theology on medieval science.

Thomas Clifford Allbutt was a British surgeon, physician, and medical historian. He was born in 1836 in Leeds, England. He was educated at Leeds Grammar School and St. John’s College, Cambridge. After graduating from Cambridge, Allbutt studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He was awarded the M.D. degree in 1861.

After completing his medical training, Allbutt worked as a physician at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. He was appointed Professor of Medicine at University College London in 1866. He held this position until 1892, when he was appointed Regius Professor of Medicine at Cambridge University.

Allbutt was also a prolific writer. He published over 200 papers and books on medical topics. His most famous work is «The History of Medicine» (1905). This book is still considered a classic text on the history of medicine.

Allbutt died in 1925 at the age of 88. He was a respected physician and medical historian who made significant contributions to the field of medicine.
