The Zend-Avesta consists of several texts, some of which are religious in nature, while others are of a legal or ethical nature, these texts are believed to have been composed over a period of several centuries, between 1200 B.C. and 500 B.C.
This book is written in the Avestan language and consists of two main parts: the Avesta which is the main part of the text, containing the hymns and the Zoroastrian religious scriptures and the Zend which consists of commentaries and explanations of the Avestan texts.
