S. Turberville (1888–1945) was a British historian and professor who specialized in the eighteenth century British history and the Spanish Inquisition. He was educated at Oxford University and taught at several universities in England and Wales. He served in the First World War and received a Military Cross for his bravery. He became the Professor of Modern History at the University of Leeds in 1929 and the head of the history department in 1939.

He was also the president of the Historical Association and the Thoresby Society. He wrote several books and articles on topics such as the House of Lords, Johnson’s England, Welbeck Abbey, John Bright, and the Spanish Inquisition. He died in 1945 at the age of 57.
